Singing The Blues

I have to keep smiling but the sun's in my eyes
my essay's rejected, didn't win a prize
I have to keep smiling 'cause spring's in the air
with scent of flowers and dead skunk over there
I should keep on smiling 'cause I'm alive
I missed hitting a deer on this morning's drive
Maybe I'm smiling even after the news
we're both unemployed and singing the blues
