Contempt for the Word
You have rejected the warning,
That God has given each morning;
Trusting oppression and deceit,
As your pleasures have been so sweet.
That is why all your sin shall be,
Like the termites within a tree;
Gnawing at wood till it shall die,
Falling on the ground where it will lie.
Through your life in sin you will rot,
While strife will make you distraught;
You will break buried in the ground,
Because no salvation was found.
God can save you if you come back,
Rebuilding your faith that you lack;
If you are willing to confess,
Rest assured that the Lord will bless.
You can be strong by putting trust,
In to God instead of some lust;
Devoting to Him your love,
Every thought and deed thereof.
The Lord is waiting to be kind,
If you do keep Him on your mind;
And you are willing to abide,
In the Word through the Crucified.
