 'Inspiration In Thought'

'Sweet Smile'

The winds of February did blow cold
They chilled us to our very bones,
And little sunshine found its way
Along the path, on that snowy day.

The trees were bare, they stood asleep
Though inwardly their eyes did peek,
For a life began upon the earth
To find its way, and show its worth.

The day was cold, no sun to shine
At least within the clouds on high,
Yet it shone its rays in joyous form
As a tiny, infant girl was born.

She cried her first long joyous sound
To light the hearts of those around,
And fill our lives with light, and love
Sent down with her, from up above.

She captures all within the grasp
Of tiny fingers reaching,
And the sweetness which she entails
Is something well worth keeping,

She fills our hearts with wondrous song,
And love to last a lifetime,
And all it takes is one sweet smile,
To light our life with sunshine.

~ The inspiration for this poem really doesn't need much
explaining. Children - especially babies have a special
way of evoking inspiration within the soul of everything
they look at, smile at, and touch. I wrote this piece for
the newest little addition to my family - Sarah Mackenzie,
born February 18, 2010. ~ R.B.
