Those who undertook a course in Histotechnology
Would have understood and appreciated its diversity
And would have recognized its capacity
To incorporate the natural sciences readily.
Like most professions there is an internship and that practical aspect
A process quite certain and that is a fact
Areas like relative fixative, decalcifying fluids and the ability when called upon
To, perform frozen sections and on the microtome cut worthy sections at a specified micron.
Also must demonstrate that one has the ability
To perform that routine stain of the H and E
And also show that one is quite capable
Of managing the ones that are histochemical
Time and changes has brought along challenges
Through continually updating skills we did manage
Faced with urgency and faster result production
Has been ably assisted by the use of updated automation.
There is also the introduction of Immunohistochemisty
This has added another specialty to histotechnology
And has added another dimension
To assist in the diagnostic determination.
Oh! What joy to any Pathologist
To be working with a competent Histotechnologist
Whose , knowledge, skill and ability
Is a factor in the diagnostic and analytical study.
So lets sing praises to Culling, Lee Luna and Lillee
They have made significant contributions to histotechnology
See them as that shining light
Whose illumination was just right
To brighten the path of the future
For all of us whom they indirectly tutor.
