Dancing

Don't bother me with
whether I am the dancer or the dance.
Can't you see I'm tired of your
petty philosophies?
I want to live.
Yet, I was always fascinated with
the issue of fate.
Can you choreograph the dance of my life?
I always thought I was gentle enough
for an energetic ballet, but life
became too rough to sustain it.
The safest way is to move to the beat
and the rhythm,
I suppose you would say.
I can manage some appropriate
pirouettes, but, once again,
I worry about the cooperation needed
for lasting happy minuets.
Whatever the dance,
I have to strive to keep in step.
Is it worth the effort?
It all depends on who we trust
with the choreography.
I want to enjoy life.
I want to follow my own rhythm.
All this selfishness leads to a lot of
isolated dances,
people absorbed in their own movements.
There remains the question of which dance we choose.
Let's not forget to discuss the overall selection.
Life involves a good deal of discipline.
