 Small Blessings
Sometimes, I look for the magnificent;
The skies parting with rainbow colors,
The mighty hand of God touching me.
My eyes search for the spectacular;
The silence I misinterpret as uncaring,
Turning to carnal pleasures to fulfill me.
This fluff never fills the void within;
But it only enhances the hunger,
The desire to be loved for who I am.
Wandering along the lonely streets,
Filling life with the toys and baubles;
The scales on my eyes fall away, I see.
Flowers growing along the highway;
The smiles from fellow sojourners,
Love in the person of true friends.
God's hand I now see upon me;
Never with force, but gentleness,
Brought to me by the glory of life.
Love sparks anew within my soul;
Power flows as I reach out to you,
Now one of the agents of God's hand.
My eyes drink in the beauty of life;
Now I fill the void with God's Love,
Seeing His presence in small blessings.
