 Silence is Golden
This old song resounds in my head;
As I wonder what to say, what to do.
The Tremeloes hit from 1967 speaks
To the issues that I face in my heart.
When I see my friend being hurt once again;
Do I lend wisdom, even if it causes pain.
Silence is golden, but my eyes will still see;
See the hurt as you fall for him again.
Your choices are so poor when he walks in the door;
Your intelligence hides, as your heart loves.
I know he will use you again, I see the ice in his eyes;
But my voice knows you will always follow your heart.
When I see my friend being hurt once again;
Do I lend wisdom, even if it causes pain.
Silence is golden, but my eyes will still see;
See the hurt as you fall for him again.
Love is not always beautiful, is not always nice;
Not when one falls for a user, a player.
You are only a pawn in his game, my friend;
I want to protect you from his tentacles.
When I see my friend being hurt once again;
Do I lend wisdom, even if it causes pain.
Silence is golden, but my eyes will still see;
See the hurt as you fall for him again.

I woke up with this song on my heart.
I don't know who this poem is for,
but I believe it is for someone out there.
