 Hiding From Reality

As I look at the reality of this present moment,
I have several choices in dealing with what is.
I can accept reality, with all the joys and sorrows;
I can ignore reality, refusing to allow myself to see;
Or I can be found hiding from reality once again.

One of these days I am going to poke my head up
Out of the screenplay of my created storyboard;
And I will see reality looking square into my eyes…
Daring me to see it, to breathe it, to experience it.
I must stop hiding from reality in order to truly live.

Ignoring reality bites me in the rear every time,
For it does exist, for it is after all, reality.
Hiding from reality is a temporary haze engulfing
Life, swallowing it up in a premature death.
I turn,  looking the hairy beast in his yellow eyes;
Unflinching, I am not hiding from reality any longer.

Pray for me the strength to stand fast in this arena;
Like a hero, facing down the monster of my reality.
Taming the beast by a nonjudgmental  approach;
For in actuality, I have no real choice in the matter.
Hiding from reality is no way for me to live in freedom.
