Poetic Verses
The Day Of Rain
This was something that happen a long time
But the events are always fresh in my mind
A weather system so strange and unsuspecting
Bought along a lot of rain and this was so surprising
Though thunder rolled and lightning flashed in the early morning
Giving a hint and sort of sounding a sort of warning
No one paid heed and so paid the unfortunate penalty
Because what followed was a sort of catastrophe.
The way those rain drops struck the ground
So loudly as though it was sounding a warning all around
Every crack and crevice that held water was overflowing
This was a sort of indication the trouble was brewing.
A torrent of water's broke its caption with a great force
Taking boulders as it move in a downward course
The added material give it some power that it easily
Move anything in it path and took them into the sea
On the roads the water was like a river's flow
Flooding vehicles and they stalled and could not go
Houses too were flooded and it was obvious for sure
There was water flowing in at the windows and through each door.
The earth too moved like shifting sand
Moving housed off the foundation
Then to add insult to injury so seriously
There was a loss of water and electricity
It was not a very good sight to see
Places surrounded by water so completely
Being trapped in their home not knowing what to do
Until someone with a boat came and effect a rescue.
One thing that all should understand
The water also destroyed the homes of the vermin
See them swimming around to survive and on anything congregated
Well one can be certain there were lots of thing contaminated.
Many people were forced to use the designated shelter
However the said would have rather be home this would have been better
Saying they will hold on until there was a measure of safety
Because apart from looting another issue was privacy.
