I play alone in a sandbox
Digging at the earth
Scratching just the surface
In search of poetic worth
Thunderous clouds applaud
Cold raindrops stain a spot
Atop imaginative grains
Forming words I've got
A blank page or canvas
Call it what you will
A stick in hand I etch
Words that I fulfill
I hear a chatter of verses
Hung upon walls of time
Walking past, turning fast
Etching words all mine
