At Night
At night when all the world's asleep
When shadows all about me creep
My heart cries out for you and bleeds
And thoughts of you fulfil my needs...
At night when stars above me sing
I wish my arms were eagle wings
That I may seek the open skies
Where love divine forever lies...
At night when memories swell and bloom
And tender feelings fill my room
I cry for you, and silent screams
Escape my soul like broken dreams...
At night when I can hide away
Beneath the shadows of the day
I close my eyes and dream again
Though conscious it is all in vain...
At night when love is close and near
I see your shadows every where
I long and feel your sweet embrace
The cool and beauty of your grace...
At night, at night, at night alone
My heart is not a heavy stone
It's when I love you most and still
I've not come close to woo your will...
At night is when I'm close to you
At night is when it seems so true
That love does never die though we
Are never here to prove and see...
