 How God Uses Our Dreams

I cannot interpret dreams I have at night
As Joseph did for Pharaoh in days of old
Through God who gave him keen insight
Joseph relayed the message God foretold

Sometimes my dreams are so very real
Like I am reliving events from my past
I wake up still remembering each detail
Why do such memories haunt me at last?

Sometimes dreams wake me up at night
Then I am very exhausted the next day
The key is to relax and use dimmer light
It may take time before dreams go away

At work, it is sometimes hard for me to focus
Part of it is because I lack balance in my life
But with God's help, I am making progress
Practicing disciplines as a way to ease strife

At work, they offered a very brief nutrition class
I began changing my diet, but I did it too quickly
Causing digestive problems, getting better at last
Eating healthier foods, trying new things slowly

I have started walking and using hand weights
Slowly increasing distance and picking up pace
Sometimes I overdo and have to stop a few days
I will not quit, but continue along with life's race

My emotional and spiritual life have been affected
I became depressed, isolating myself from others
Also, my daily walk with the Lord, I have neglected
But God has shown me Christians need one another

I read a powerful online devotional this past week
Talking about coming hungry into His presence
Then, like exercise, continue to pursue and seek
Finally, have a heart attitude of eager expectance

Since being back at church for several weeks
I realize the joy of corporate worship I missed
By hearing His Word and as His face I seek
I sense His presence more and I am blessed

As I allow God to work in all areas of my life
I will experience His fullness in a deeper way
There will be daily challenges to overcome strife
But I know He will guide my steps day by day

I now see my dreams as a blessing in disguise
It seems He has used them to get my attention
Pointing out problem areas as I was asking why
So I would learn to trust Him in each situation

Psalm 84:2 (NIV)
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Psalm 84:5 (NIV)
Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.

Psalm 84:10-12 (NIV)
10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand
elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the
house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD
bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.  12 O LORD Almighty,
blessed is the man who trusts in you.
