 once upon a time

johnmcguckin78gmailcomheathergibsonjohnnyduncangeishashadowsontheheart
Have you ever walked past street people?
Averted your eyes and wondered
Why don’t they work? Can’t!
Life heaped injustices upon them.
They cannot cope.

Their deep vacant eyes staring, see nothing.
Maybe if we stopped and said hello
That kind word could momentarily change their world.
Too much hurt and they gave up.

Next time you pass by stop.
Drop a coin in their cup.
Who knows, maybe a kind word is worth a thousand coins.
Look upon them as people not drop outs.

They're simply people who couldn't cope.
Couldn't cope with society's indifferent attitudes.
Gaze quietly upon those vacant eyes and remember
THEY ARE PEOPLE.
