My Hidden Smile
What brings about a smile
when the day is dark and cloudy?
when the rain pours down
and the kids are being rowdy.
When I am feeling hurt
by words another said,
how can I keep a smile?
a frown appears instead.
When I stop and think about
how I really feel inside,
I know that it's a choice
there's a smile that I hide.
It may be hidden underneath
other feelings that are there,
I would rather wear a smile
with true happiness to share.
I can decide to be happy
even on a cloudy day,
when the kids are being rowdy
I too can stop and play.
I can keep the perfect smile
no matter how my day will go,
if I stop thinking of myself
there's a smile that I can show.
