Poetry that thinks out loud

FALLING TO PRIDE

A real gentleman within this life
Can turn and walk away.
When others do not think about
What they're going to say.
The hardest thing man has to face
Is what is in his mind.
For many men have thrown their fists
When anger made them blind.

For a man to throw no punches
And face the knock of pride;
Is very hard for him to do;
He'll feel the need to hide.
But if in life these cards are dealt
Man should not feel shame.
For it is hard to hold it back
When you are seen as lame.

Now if man throws those punches
Then pride is back again
And it will follow him around
Wanting to cause him pain.
But this time it is stronger
As man is angry now
And will go to any length
To regain his pride somehow.

The outcome is a circle
A vicious one, they say.
One that will not have an end
If man keeps on this way.
As long as man throws punches
They will just return.
Returning back to where they came,
But man just does not learn.
