PERFECT FIT
You weren't what I expected…
How many times I went over in my head
every detail of the man who would
fulfill my every wish!
Funny how you get this picture in your mind
that somehow fights with the reality that
appears, staring right into your eyes…
You weren't as tall as I had imagined.
But you were just the right height to
look in my eyes without wavering…
and without me craning my neck.
And you will chuckle at that one;
your sense of humor wasn't something
I'd thought much about,
until I saw how easily
you could laugh
at yourself.
You take my breath away with
the strength of emotions you share
in the things you write and
the loving words you
speak each day.
How could you ever worry that
I will ever grow tired of
reading sweet words
written upon your
heart for me?
Your sheer willingness to leap,
knowing that the net will appear,
gives me courage too.
And the dreams you weave
in my thoughts each night,
meeting in the Netherlands
until the universe aligns
them into our reality,
our life together,
see me through
til morning…
…when I arise hearing the song
of our shared symphony.
This is how I know it's you.
Fairytales about dream men
could never be as good as this
'cause no matter how imperfect
you think you might be
fact is, neither am I.
But that doesn't mean
we're not perfect
for each other
Don't you agree?
