When Last He danced
There was no music to be heard but
the sweet melody of enchantment swirled
around his heart
It knocked upon the door of loneliness
suffering with two left feet
No rhythm, but game
He dreamed of her but feared
crushing perfection on two feet would be his
demise and cause her pain
Still, he arrived everyday at the
club, waiting for her to appear
to dance but once with him
Knees trembled as his heart raced
uncontrollably, nervous he would shy
away when she took notice of him
The guy always hugging the bar
Always alone
She felt compelled to walk over
and she did, creating the moment
Half way cross the dance floor now her eyes
would not leave her mark as she drew closer
Just inches away a stranger, taller than him
suave and debonair swooped in and escorted her back to
where she reigned supreme
Sweeping his dreams under the carpet
and her off her feet
His days of ever cutting the rug died
When last He danced
