Committing Yourself
The almighty Lord will teach,
What to say for when I preach;
So I can urge the weary,
In how to feel more cheery.
For morning after morning,
I wake up without warning;
As a student with my ear,
Open wide so I can hear.
And I will not turn away,
Be distracted as to stray;
Nor to look for a way out,
Because of shedding some doubt.
I offer my back to those,
Who will whip tears in my clothes;
And pluck the hairs off my head,
A board of nails for my bed.
For I will not turn my face,
Away from those who disgrace;
With all that I will proclaim,
For Jesus Christ in His name.
So I shall not be ashamed,
Everything I have claimed;
I know that the time is near,
For the judgment that is clear.
