How do I Forgive?

So you hear it taught so many times that you should forgive
And how it is  a necessity if for Christ you want to live
So many times you hear it is the thing you have to do
But very few times do you hear exactly how to
I don't speak for everyone, I can only speak for me
But this is how my ability to forgive came to be
One day I took an account of all the bad that I had done
And kneeled down to present them to the Lord one by one
As I confessed them with my tongue my ears began to hear
Then my heart began to weep as my soul trembled in fear
If I did a hundred good deeds everyday until Jesus made His return
I could not wipe away enough sin so I wouldn't have to burn
And if I counted all the things I thought I was worthy of
I would fall about ten trillion short of Gods all merciful Love
I did plead my case before the Lord, I gave it y best shot
But for every one thing I confessed, He showed me ten I forgot
I felt so overwhelmed, I just knew all was lost
Then I heard a gentle voice say I've already paid the cost
Immediately I was taken back to a hill called Calvary
To witness the torture and the blood shed endured just for me
Oh the humiliation, oh my what pain
Oh the Love it took to become the Lamb that was slain
When I take account for all of the wrong I have done
I dare not stand before Him and refuse forgiveness to anyone
Not just what I've done, but also still yet to do
Because I will need yet more forgiveness by the time I'm through
How do you forgive, you might give this a try
Think about the forgiveness bought so you wouldn't have to die
