Poetic Verses

Fletcher's  Pond

Looking down from my vantage point on the hill
The view and the greeness gave me a thrill
Captivated ny the beauty and the vast extent
Of what appeared to be well manicured area so verdant

My mind then flash back to my time as a boy
When my friends and I used to take great joy
Sailing our boats on what was then a body of water
This are now a very beautiful and green pasture

Word was out that it was bought by a land developer
Who has plans to put in the relevant infrastructure
Then will sell of the in specific sized lots
And the numbers were growing what want to purchase spots

My memory conjured up a very grave situation
And being that I was quite familiar with the location
Water to me is something that always has the proclivity
To somehow come back to reclaim it former territory

Some argued saying that this is the scientific age
Checks were always carried out at each and every stage
So my friend what is sure and is quite plain
This area is a very safe and water secure domain

My reponse was that I will be concinced even more
After I haved stayed around here during a good downpour
And if there is not a convincing quantity of water on that land
Will purchase two lots. I gave my word as a man,

As if there was something that wanted me to see the sight
There was a great down pouring of rain that night
Well it seemed as thoug it wanted to stay
So the rain fell well into that day

Sitting in my room restless and it was so boring
But a piece of news jolt me and kept me sitting
People were trying to contact a certain a certain developer
Because his project was now covered by water.

This deluge had unearthed what was a scam
The torrent had broken away the wall of the dam
What a disaster Oh what damage would have be done
If there were people living on what used to be Fletcher's Pond.
