Poetry For Everyday People

These Days Baby

On the way
to see Bob Dylan
on the way
to go back in time
these days baby
old friends are sure hard to find

once we
were free to dream
once we
explored 'neath the trees
these days baby
old friends are sure hard to find

stuck somewhere
between nine and five
sentenced to the suburbs
for the rest of our lives
these days baby
old friends are sure hard to find

use to
meet at the bar for a beer
use to
not have so much damn fear
these days baby
old friends are sure hard to find

we travel
to Target and the grocery store
we travel
between memories and the liquor store
these days baby
old friends are sure hard to find

stuck somewhere
between nine and five
sentenced to the suburbs
for the rest of our lives
these days baby
old friends are sure hard to find

stamps and envelops
are old time machines
now if you wanna get there
you just google it seems
these days baby
old friends are sure hard to find
