The Uncut Diamond (Independant Woman)The Uncut Diamond (Independent woman) There it is... Raw, untamed, uncut It stands there – brilliantly Many men have lent their sweat to find it Deep in the earth it lay waiting To be seen and admired Loved It is unformed Misshapen by time its had many years of darkness Seeking light Its endless lack of motion has made it strong – hardened This diamond in the rough – uncut- Sought by many, admired by all Displayed for all its brilliance To be seen and shown It's in the light now But after the show is over, And all the admirers have left The darkness returns See this hardened, brilliant, uncut diamond Is good for the show But it's the diamond that allows itself to be cut and softened That sees the light at home Benjamin A.
