Loud Sounds
Some people may say that the youth of today is not listening
Maybe it is the simple fact that they are not hearing
Subjecting themselves very often to the frequency of such loud sounds
No matter this is so challenging to their eardrums.
In the traffic, I find it hard to comprehend or relate
To the fact that while sitting in this jam should my car vibrate.
Looking around to check, I noticed four cars down
A youth whose loud music was the source of the vibration.
Modern technology have provided them with the capacity
To carry miniature devices like i-pods and black berries
These because of their versatility and adaptability
The owners can download a variety of music on their memory.
Many times when they are passed walking on the street
No friendly face, cheery smile or good morning to greet
Earphones connected to devices and ears, playing so loudly it you can hear
So focused they may even walk into you, as though you were not there.
Something I noticed one day as i was walking
I happened to overtake a young lady, who music was deafening
When she finnaly realised my presence she was startled and show some alarm
Perhaps if she does not take any care, someday someone may inflict some harm.
On reading I came across something so very profound
That some illnesses are predisposed by very loud sound
It show that those in its presence may suffer hypertension
But the condition reverses, when they are in a milder location.
I hope that many of them will readily understand they cannot repair
The damage these loud bouts of sound will do to their ears
Perhaps some day before too late, they read a chart that tells
The permissible level of their sound tolerance in decibels.
