Signs of the Times
Man his need and greed plus those big businesses, all in the name of affluence
Set about destroying flowers and trees with some form of nonchalance
Replacing them with motor ways to access those shopping departments
This thet do knowing the impact it will have on the environment.
As trade is booming in the sectors of land, sea and air
Wealth is growing so nobody takes anytime to care
Therefore all forms of toxic gases, and carcinogenic agents
Are now finding its way into many sectors of the environment.
Some industries dump their effluence into many of the world's water
Killing off important organisms, that maintained that buffer
Also some of these toxic chemical are stored in the lipids of the fish
And like that vicious cycle finds its way back to the consumer's dish.
It may be long not before many of those expansive aquifers
Will soon be depleted, due to overuse of their vital resources
As that demand for water usage and wastage is rapidly increasing
Also threats are there from contaminants due to some for of leaching.
As the number of places that depicts the natural wonder of nature is disappearing
This is happing at such an alaming rate, an little is being done to slow the stripping
It has been show that nature has the effect which is so therapeutic
That many patients have shorter hospital stay, when exposed to it.
Science always reminds us that nature most certainly abhors a vaccum
So there must be always be some replacement for what gets consumed
Perhaps this effect is being manifested by our state of ill health
As we readily give up nature's beauty in the persuit of wealth
Now in this era of informatics and this telecommunication age
The amount of radiation, electromagnetic waves in the are on the rampage
Some say they are the stimulant, the encourages the growth of certain cancers
Amid all this, the lust for money in the pocket, is still what matters.
There is always that threat be it a landfill, or a nuclear spill
All these combination can prove to be a very bitter pill

To overcome will require lots of planning and determined wills.
The change from trees, to a concrete jungle is still another matter
Sometimes taking very arable land out of that needed agriculture

This food may fill a void, but very low in nutritious value
So therefore now another chance when another problem can brew
