Had You Scratched Below The Surface
Beyond the pigment of my skin there
is much more
So much to give, yet still to pour

Had you scratched below this part of me
You'd see the someone who gave freely
The best not once nor twice but over time
Distressed became a life, not yours but mine

Love mine was tossed but never held
Appears the frost that once was Hell
Has numbed the best, what once was one
Whose sentiment wore now none

Someone, who gave but never took
No second guessing or second looks
Because in eyes and heart were you
Beyond scratched surface you never knew

These times have turned to bite not kiss
My hands that held your face they'll miss
Because you never saw the good there was
Inside of me, today I'll pause

Reflect of better days and nights
Resting to savor to hold to tight
What once was you but never me
Beyond the surface you failed to see

Authors note: This write was inspired by the deepest part of anyone who reads this. Love becomes sometimes the least of us. In thought maybe, at times abused. Condone we do the many hurts it brings and sufferings become whats left of us. The video is graphic but emotions are no less. Love today as you never have, for love was meant to be something not taken for granted.
