Misunderstanding ii

My wife as usual was right
It was so noisy there I didn't really hear
Even though she'd stood quite near
I thought she'd said Tap Dancer
But it must have been Lap Dancer
So I agreed to see her perform
My pulse is now back to norm
Took two days in an oxygen tent
Imagine my great embarrassment

‘Twas touch and go the doctor said
Laughing and gleefully shaking his head
And he said all the while
I was wearing such a smile
Where I was he didn't know or care
Just was wishing that he'd been there
And by and by his magic pills
Sorted out blood pressure ills
And I learned not to nod my head
If I wasn't sure what had been said
