life lessons?

all black and white

it's all black and white, the bus from glasgow with my mum and my siblings, all black and white except the big red checkered bag that mum is struggling with.
aunty elsie and uncle alan, not really related just friendly people that dad had met when he first arrived in the strange new town.
first day at st. josephs' i ran away home because no-one could understand my glaswegian brogue and i wanted my mammy.
the ice palace on the playing field, a snow house we all built at dinner times and it lasted for weeks, or so it seemed at the time!?.
dad running a sword through his knee whilst telling us how he fought in the great war when he was a younger man, even though he was only 30 then and the last war was 35 years ago!?.
the day they tricked me into going to the approved school, the scream and the cry that night as i realised that i had been tricked by the ones i trusted the most.
the start of the ride on the slippery slope that was to be my ife for the next 35 years of crime and self loathing and drug and alcohol abuse that changed me but also made me who i am today!?.
