We Were Young
We were young and naive
We were pure and believed
We were dreams we were smiles
And the future was a cloud in the sky...
Your dark eyes were so bright
In your beautiful face
And your hair was the night
That is how I remember the beautiful days...
Those were days we had dreams
Of sweet love and true things
Those were days it would seem
We could reach the stars if we had wings...
And the time that your hands
Gave me food in my mouth
Like a child in a dream
I was truly in love and without a doubt...
Then we left and we lost
Then we loved and we cried
Then we found in the darkness
In our hearts the sweet joys of yesterday...
From the mountains and hills
From the classrooms and books
From the games that we played
It is you that lingers still in my heart...
The trees have their rings
And the stars have their light
But the lines in my heart
Are the poems that I write for love divine...
