 126. Snow Angels
(Inspired by Vinessa's starter line)

In the hushed,
Crystalline stillness...
My tears fell
Like snowflakes
As their impact
Made no sound
But had
Instead
The secret power
Of silencing
The sound
Of my
Sobs.

The landscape
Was white
& new with
The late winter
Fall…
To watch each
Flake was to see
Memories floating
Softly,
But ever
Downward
To become
The landscape
I tread upon
Today.

The accumulation
Of crystallized
Memories
Fell until
All that
Was left
Of me
Were
The dark grey
Clouds
Blanketing
The sky.

I'd take a horrible dream
Over a terrible memory
Of reality
Any day.

But today
Is not
My day.

I can only
Hope…
That the child
In my heart
Will play
Again someday,
Making snow
Angels,
In the hushed,
Crystalline stillness...
