 Hoopla (Super Bowl Sunday)

Dressed in Black and Gold, the Steelers are ready;
In the green and gold, the Packers looking unsteady.
Powerful surges of exhilaration waiting for the kick;
My team is finally playing this year, no need to pick.

Going for their seventh ring, wanting another notch;
As most of the nation will settle in to eat and watch.
Chicken wings, pizza, Doritos, Pepsi, or some beer;
We all want to join in the hoopla, to shout and cheer.

It is more than a game, but now an American institution;
Our hopes and dreams rest in a binomial distribution.
Chances, probabilities, the Vegas odds; who will win?
Will the Steelers be victorious behind the arm of Big Ben.

The child within my heart comes out to play today;
I can't wait until the kickoff, and the game's underway.
In the harsh reality of this world, this event is small;
Why all the hoopla, it is just another game of football?

I fully understand this world's pain, I bow and pray;
Remembering our soldiers standing in harm's way.
To those who give of their hearts to those in need;
Reaching out to a hungry world, finding those to feed.

I can smile after a moment of reflection into reality;
Now it is time to be touched fully by the sensuality.
Football is a simple diversion, a gift of some peace;
This is all of the hoopla, the need of a full release!
