SOME THINGS
Your quietude was what first struck me…
…the thing that caught in my throat
Your gentle words swirled
around me in a dance of commonality
and it made me sigh from deep within my core…
…everything you said seemed as though it was
an echo of my own thoughts
so much so that
I almost felt I could not trust myself to
really allow you in…
But your shy smile drew me…
…there was a poignancy in it that hurt
all of the years of pained living
you endured before you chanced to
discover me, seemed to pour from your sad eyes…
and you wanted to drown in the feeling of acceptance
that you experienced with me so quickly…
Yet you could not let your past go…
…too many memories clouded your vision
there were so many questions within that
you still had not answered, too many whys
that would not release you from your self imposed prison…
And so we parted, suddenly and without fanfare…
…simply said goodbye and I'm sorry that it hurts
but some things are not meant to last,
some things are simply there to help you heal,
some things are just something wonderful for a while…
And some things give you wings…
