Why,
when we go to the beach
with stick in hand
do we feel this need
to write in the sand?
We've all done it
inscribe our love
to wondering eyes
of those above.
We write the names
of those we adore
soon to be washed
away by the shore.
Yet we hold on to pain
some of us for years
let it fester and poison
bring ones soul to tears.
I say it is time
to change our ways
let us write on our heart
of love to remain.
And write in the sand
that which left a stain
let the water wash over it
cleanse the spirit of all pain.
Watch it be swept away by the sea
and let yourself finally be free.
