Good and bad, happy and sad,
are the ingredients of life!
Happy thoughts, hurtful remarks,
are the trials of a mixed up life.
You try to keep things sweet,
and hold love in your heart,
But the bitter seeps on through,
and causes you to part.
You try to hold onto the good years,
and not let the bad years show,
But it's very hard to pretend,
because within your heart you know…
You know when it's finally over,
and you know when the love light's gone,
The sweet has disappeared,
and all those years are done.
If marriage is, 'forever,'
tell me, why didn't it last?
Was it because of change,
from the way we were in the past?
We change and alter through the years,
but no matter the trials and pain,
We should never lose sight of love,
because without it nothings the same.
Like a plant that's nurtured and loved,
we should grow, thrive and excel,
To the heights of total ecstasy,
and not to a living hell!
Like a flower without water,
we wither and we die,
Fade away into the background,
without love, do you wonder why?
We all need love in our life,
and we need to know someone will care…
We need to feel needed and cherished,
and not to be, 'just there!'
Like the sand slipping through a timer,
we lose the love from our heart,
Seeping away, to nothing at all,
that's the time we need to part.
Better to go our separate ways,
than to forever live in pain,
Love should be paramount in our lives,
that anything less is a shame!
So when you find that love of your life,
please, don't ever let it go,
Because all too soon, it's slipped away,
before you even know.
Because just like that, it's gone,
vanished without a trace,
All you have is an empty heart,
and a chair with an empty space!
