Poetic Verses
To Shield
As parents there is the inherent will and zeal
The offspring is the one they should shield
Nothing wrong, but also that time you should know
When you reached that moment to let go.
During that time teach those life important skills
This to them someday will be some very sweet pills
So that they will not depend on you in every instance
And so could give that apron string some distance.
In all fairness, what lesson you will be imparting
If behind them you keep up the process of cleaning
They will never be able to shoulder any responsibility
Because they can always, leave it for mummy and daddy.
Imagine having a good friend, who has a problem with drugs
You keep paying off the debts, he owes to those thugs
This sure will never help him kick the habit
But perhaps may cause him to sing even deeper into the pit.
Children always try to look beyond the constant protection
This overtime, may create a very dangerous situation
Always be mindful that the protector's time is finite
And so being thrown into something, is no delight.
So be not always willing to be accepting the fish
Try to acquire those skills, to put one on your dish
Always remember and focus on this important lesson.
Use it for a positive re-enforcement for all season.
