 Penniluck's legacy

Doctor`s Error, My Delight

To my darling son Stan who is 43 years old today. This is the brief story of your birth my son. Have a really happy day and remember I love you and always will. Mum xxx

Rushed away - no glimpse for me
What have I got - I did not see?
The doctor smiled, `You`ve got a lass.
`Just got to check she is first class`.

No! the midwife yelled aloud
You my girl feel very proud
Your life will now be filled with joy
`Cause look, you have a lovely boy

How could you think that he`s a she
His face is like a girl you see
Ach that`s not how we usually tell
The difference `tween a boy and girl.

Peachy skin, eyes deep blue
Cupid lips and black hair too
Twelve days passed before my arms
Got to feel your baby charms.

Then I watched you as you grew
Nothing girlish about you
Handsome? yes - with dark brown eyes
Hair the black of midnight skies

Angels sat upon your shoulder
Guarded you as you got older
I am just so very glad
God gave me such a bonnie lad

Forty-three years - getting on
Have a happy birthday son
And remember as you go
Your mum will always love you so.
