 FIRST DAY OF MAY
My two Sisters and I always
looked forward to the
very first day of May.
It was oh,so delightful.
There was a special reason
for this anticipation.
It was just right in season
to take off our shoes.
Whether rain or gentle sleet,
we'd ruffle Mom's feathers.
New grass tickled our feet.
We had grass between our toes.
The thrill of it all was
childhood bliss by far.
Hopping about like a robin does,
from morning to dusk.
