Mother's Day

My how quickly can a year appear, and then disappear
And in that process, another mother's day is near
Those merchants, restaurateurs, get spur into action
Preparing packages, to attract the many attention

Knowing that the children will think nothing is too great
To show to their mothers how much, they, they do appreciate
All of that vested time,  sacrifice and attention
Providing protection, teaching and steering in a particular direction.

Perhaps they may take a trip directly down memory lane
Reflecting on many of those memories, time and again
There were times of happiness, others were filled with pain
But she as always so resolute and determined, will remain.

So therefore each day should be dedicated to that special lady
One who played such a vital role in the continuity of a country
As she nurtured, and prepared those many sons and daughters
Who may some day become that country's administrators.

But how much time is there in that short day
That one can send enough appreciation, their way
Don't think that it is only dinners, gifts they crave
Give some moment of your time, before either, go to the grave.

In that song, where the guy order flowers for his mother
He was very kind enough, to buy some for this youngster
When he drove by, saw  the youngster, by his mother's grave in the cemetery
He returned to the florist, and decided to take his personally.

As now I have been living and working abroad for many years
Those contacts with mine, always bring me such good cheers
And we can talk about anything under the sun
That makes me feel so happy, even long after we are done.
