Bought Wisdom

I remember those hung over days
Head banging thudding until noon
When the after lunch snatched nap
Was over all too soon

And it was back to the Block
Feeling almost alive
Working full out to catch up
As the clock whirred to five
A quick wash and shave
And down to the gate
If we missed the bus
Not bothering to wait
Just strolled down the road
To the pub and then
Beer after beer after beer
The process started off again

Hung over days surviving
In between the boozing sessions
Until we grew up and slowed down
Having learned our hard learned lessons
