233. Clear the Road
Make ready
The way…
Prepare for the
Worst,
Pray for the best.
How many more
Clichés can there be?
They exist
For a reason,
And sometimes
I think they
Just keep
Getting repeated
Because we
Forget
That they are
Important.
We wonder
Why our wishes
Haven't come true,
The job
The lover
The big break,
When we
Haven't done
Anything
Other than
Pine for
Them.
If I want
A lover
In my life,
Then everyday
Should be as
The day
I might meet
Them.
If I want
The job
Then everyday
Must be as
If, today,
Is the big day
They are going
To say yes.
The house
Must be cleared
Of clutter
If I expect someone
To come into
My life,
Then room
Must be made.
If I have
No time
Then how can
There be room
For a lover
In my
Schedule?
If I can't
Stand to come
Home to
The mess
I've made
Then why would
Anyone else?
If I don't
Like myself
Then why would
Anyone hire
Me?
Repeat.
Repeat.
Repeat.
If you clear
The road
For your
Beloved to come,
Will they?
Possibly.
But bitterness
And resentment
Will never bring
Love, light
Or abundance
If the cynics
In our hearts
Are fed
More
Than our
Dreamers.
