Stood mighty on a rocky cliff
Taller than the sky
Of stone so cold
The shudder would wreck a soul
Windowless and bleak of position
Its power raged above the cowering sea
Where men sailed in the swell
Duty was their intent
Night air crackled with deliverance
As the beacon flashed a baring signal
Bright shafts of light striding across waves
Whipped rough by storms of revenge
Men had swept before into a murky labyrinth
Charging the gunnels
Seeking the saviour
Of life's last hope
