 "her path to integrity"

viii "the baring habibi tree"

one warm, spring morn,
the deep, white magnolia
spoke. she uttered into
the smooth air, "i had a
dream." there was abrupt
silence, the four words
ebbed and flowed away
upon air. her branches
were bare with a dress
of leaves to the base.

days later, the habibi tree
spoke yet again. "i gave
birth and as they lay the child
in my arms, the Golden
Dragon died." her slender
branches quivered still; it was
as if the sensual tree lowered
in sorrow. for seasons, she
leafed nor spoke again.
and then one day,
she disappeared.
