SAFE KEEPER
A battered old suitcase
Which lies on my bed
Safe keeper of secrets
Buried and dead
Decades of fester
Torn pages and pain
Scribblings in notepads
Life on the wane
A scarf that I wore
A brooch passed from my sister
Sepia photos
Harsh pain makes me blister
Howls from a soul
No way to turn
Things I have forgotten
Newness to learn
A battered old suitcase
My being contained
Some things might change
And some they remain
