Sobs my soul, the memory flames;
The departed day, the deserted day,
Left me here you voyaged away;
The deep valley of sorrows swallowed me then.
You gave to me what all I need;
You brought me up where I am now,
Affection I enjoyed all through from you;
Made me a man, a man of values.
Crawled on your chest, sucked your milk;
Ignorant I was merrily played,
The furnace that burned inside your heart;
The pain and grievance bore you calmly.
Mortal flesh departs and rots;
Immortal souls exist all around.
A day will come to reach up on you,
To lay down and rest once more on thy lap.
The inflamed thoughts on the Remembrance day
of my mother's demise...7th July.
