Life isn't very fair, but on life we depend
To carry us through from beginning to end
It isn't the good times or money we spend
That makes the trip worthwhile, my friend...
It isn't the hours spent in high society
Observing all niceties with propriety
Dazzling the crowd with "infinite variety"
We would do best to live a life of piety...
Life isn't fair, we have very little to say
About whether it goes this or that way
And it throws us new curves every day
But all of us seem to want to stay...
Heaven awaits those who live as they should
People who are decent and kind and good
Everyone could do it if only they would
Well...at least a lot of people could....
