Afterlife
Swallowed up by the street
Tattered shoes upon my feet
Never knowing where I'm going
Never remember what I'm doing
Looking for food all the day
Doing what the policemen say
Getting help where I can
Not feeling much like a man
You think I'm happy on the street
You think my world is so sweet
It's nice to sit around all day
Having things go your way
The demons that haunt my soul
In my life they play a role
They talk to me so no one hears
And they're drawing ever near
The herb and drink help me hide
Causing me to change inside
I know someday this will get old
I will listen to what I'm told
I'll get the help that I need
In my heart they'll plant a seed
I'll find my way off the street
The other self is who I'll meet
I will start my life anew
Find the hole I fit through
I will have cash to live on
And all of this will be gone
