 Penciled Thoughts

Dear God

I stink here in my filthy rags,
   Knowing that I've sinned.
I try to hide from you,
Cause of the shape I'm in.

I cry out from my darkness,
Please, please shine your light.
Life up my life to you,
           On this very night.

   You do kill my sadness.
   And you make me clean.
   You give me happiness,
   Like none I've ever seen.

I know you'll lift my darkness,
        Forgive my every crime.
       Help me stop my sinning,
            Keep me right in line.

Dear Lord, can you hear me,
       In my silent prayer.
Let me know you're present,
  Let me know you're there.

      I'm so glad you listen,
To what I have to say.
      Father please forgive me,
         If only for one day.

      I know I cannot hide,
    From your seeing eyes.
With your love and kindness,
I'll succeed now if I try.
