Spring on the HorizonThe long nights remain cold, a sharp frost whitens the lawn, Breathing creates clouds, seen in the faint light of the dawn, Nature turns on a winter scene, but alas only a disguise, Seasonal clocks are getting earlier, beckoning the sun to rise, An increasing hint of spring has followed our very cold start, That promise in the sun's rays, warms the cockles of one's heart, A raucous dawn chorus welcoming the beginning of a new day, Tiny new buds on the trees heralding new growth on the way, Birds are taking to the wing, an annual journey home to nest, Yellow daffodils out in bloom, awakened from seasonal rest, With this fresh spring palate, new colours bursting on the scene, Many blossoms of vivid hues, contrasts against a verdant green, While standing in the warm sun you can feel the cold wind bite, This being the season for romantic poets, their inspiration to write, Creatures hibernation over, some old friends come out to find, How savage winter may have been and if spring will be as kind, Spring is for all lovers, Spring is an affair of the heart , Spring is a new beginning, Spring can be our new start. Spring all clocks can go forward, Winters nearly done Spring in southern hemisphere starts on September one Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
