SOMEWHERE IN TIME IS THE YOUNGER VERSION OF US

 photo TerryattheHiltonCompoundTower2_e-1.jpg

Somewhere in time there is the younger version of us
People say in the future we will travel through time
And that we will go back and visit events from history

If this were possible without endangering the balance
Like the time continuum or altering any future events
We'd just observe our past history without altering it

We could take our loved ones back to see how it was
They could see for themselves what really happened
They might understand why we are the way we are today

They could see what we had to face there in Vietnam
That we were outnumbered and shorthanded but we held
They'd see that we tried hard to keep Vietnam free

It may do more harm than good if they did understand
Why we had always kept it buried so deep inside of us
Would it actually be to much for them to deal with?

I guess it would be better to just leave it in the past
Maybe it's far better for them not to know what happened
They may shout out warnings to the younger version of us

Sometimes we might wish that our birth family, relatives
or even our friends could see for themselves just what we
all had faced and overcame during our own tours of duty in
the war with the help and encouragement from our brother
warriors with whom we had served with in Vietnam. But then
again sometimes I do find myself thinking that it really
wouldn't matter at all to them after all the time that has
past by, since they never faced what we had faced at such
a young age, I guess it would be very hard for them all to
understand those things we had gone through and it is why
many of us still can't let go of the experiences which we
all had survived and that have made us who we are today.
