Punk Rock-was in essence a movement by the disaffected youth of America-to be a punker, was to be an
outsider, outcast and an individual..an individual..someone,who;back in the day..would've been called a loser..To have one's own thoughts on whatever topic is at hand at the moment..whether it be: religion, politics, music, sex or food..Individuality was the key.. Punk Rock, before it became a common, mainstream and streamlined affactation..ie.,Major record label and shopping mall experience..was, more or less a Youth Movement, for kids, by kids..Kids who did not would not be fitted into the generic kids role..If you saw another kid in school who walked a little different, who tended not to be involved with school functions,ie.,Pep rallies, football practice, school council and the like, it was probably a good assumption that kid was into something you were not..Probably,that kid, associated with "People of the Night" and got into bars with a fake id, to see bands, which most kids his age were unaware of..It is true, that hind site is 20/20..and with age comes a bit of romancing the past..But imagine what it was like for a kid to be part of that..very exciting indeed.."The place was really rockin' to those HIWATT Amps.." Pete Townshend..It was individual, but once the punk rock match was lit, it caught fire to the imagination of yesterday's youth..I hope that there are still some fire's yet to be put out..By Rick Weber June 19, 2011 copywritten By Rick Weber June 19, 2011 copywritten Father's Day ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vote for this poem
