 352. Shadow Self
(thanks to April L. for the word)

To deny the darkness
Is to feed it.

To ignore it
Is giving it
Attention.

There is a reason
The name is given
To be the green
Monster…
For it is what
We become.

Trying to be good
Is not courageous,
For that would be
To face
What we fear.

Face it…
Not doing so
Puts us all
In peril.

It is the difference
Between Anikin
And Luke.

It is the difference
Between you
And who
You want to
Be.

Facing one's fear
Doesn't mean
Giving into
It…
Just facing
The truth
We are afraid
To confront
About ourselves.

I am jealous.
I am angry.
I hate you
For…
So many things…
Naming the beast
Gives one
The power
To deal with it.

Then it becomes
The ally
And not
The saboteur.

In the darkness
Of denial it
Can undermine
All great efforts.

Embracing the darkness
Transforms it.

The light
In the darkness
Is whole.
